John Wright


Research Scientist

John comes to ASI with a background in research and has strong practical experience in the performance of commercial oysters. John earned a PhD from The University of Sydney where he assessed the role the biotic and physical environment play on the production of cultured Pacific oysters. John has published his research on the commercialisation and productivity of oysters in a number of journals.

John has collaborated with a number of organisations including the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), NSW DPI Fisheries, Sydney Institute of Marine Sciences (SIMS), National Climate Change Adaptation Facility (NCCARF) and has built strong partnerships with the Australian oyster industry.

John has a keen interest in research and business activities that seek to sustain, improve and maximise the potential of our primary industries while also maintaining best practice to manage our natural resources. John joins ASI as the Research Officer.
