Lewa (pronounced Leva) grew up in idyllic North West Tasmania, with a deep affinity to the ocean. She earned her Bachelor of Marine Science with First Class Honours from the University of Tasmania in collaboration with the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS).
Bridging both arts and science sectors, Lewa worked as a consultant and successful business owner. She has collaborated with multiple organisations in her marine science career such as NRM South (Tasmania), National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility (NCCARF), Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (DSEWPaC) and Macquarie University.
Having volunteered overseas for climate change adaptation projects in the Pacific Islands, Middle East, and the United States; Lewa has firsthand experience of marine science and environmental sustainability. From Research Assistant to Research Officer, with her creative and analytical track record, Lewa has demonstrated and achieved positive outcomes for ASI.
