Sylvia Ng

Sylvia grew up in Malaysia before following her passion to complete a bachelor's degree in marine biology with the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) at the University of Tasmania. She completed her undergraduate in 2022.
She studied marine ecology, aquatic botany, marine resource management and statistics at her university and worked on projects studying the environmental factors that affected the distribution of mesozooplankton assemblages around Maria Island National Park and studying Australian fur seals' haul out behavior in the d'Entrecasteaux Channel.
She joined ASI as a casual staff and was offered a permanent position in 2023 where she assist in both hatchery and field operations. She strives to learn and contribute to the oyster industry in Tasmania.
