2017 TAS Broodstock
Allocation information
78 2017 families were produced at IMAS Taroona from 10/10/2017 - 25/11/2017 using 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 broodstock. They were first deployed to the field in mid-December 2017 for POMS exposure trials at Pitt Water and Pipe Clay Lagoon. Performance data (meat condition, shape, and growth) was collected in August 2019 at Little Swanport. A total of 96,417 oysters were measured.
EBV + Inbreeding Values
The top ten POMS resistant families were made available for commercial allocations in August 2018 and also in June 2019. Two allocations were made due to the different sizes between the two batches of families produced and when they were put out in the water (batch 1: families 1-40; and batch 2: families 42-85).
It is important to note that the EBV reflect POMS mortality only and are not intended to show losses due to other causes. Therefore, other potential losses must be factored in (added) to give an overall expectation of survival.

2017 SA Broodstock
Allocation information
78 2017 families were produced at SARDI from 16/11/2017 - 11/01/2018 (three separate spawning’s) using 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 broodstock. They were first deployed to the field end of June 2018 for POMS exposure (Port Adelaide) and SA survival (Smoky Bay, Cowell, Coffin Bay). Performance data (meat condition, shape, and growth) was collected in September 2019 and August 2020 across Smoky Bay and Cowell. A total of 57,128 oysters were measured.
EBV + Inbreeding Values
The top ten POMS resistant families (families with low SA survival EBV’s were not included in the commercial selection) were made available for commercial allocations in August 2019.
It is important to note that the EBV reflect POMS and SA mortality only and are not intended to show losses due to other causes. Therefore, other potential losses must be factored in (added) to give an overall expectation of survival.
